Model 130 Series (shown here)

The microscope model that sets the standard for high school instruction. Includes all the most commonly specified features. Rugged metal construction, locked-on parts. Superior DIN optical system and precision mechanical components assure parfocalled and parcentered optical alignment for sharp, unsurpassed viewing. Recommended for instruction through grade 12.

OPTICAL SYSTEM

  • Widefield 10x eyepiece with revolving pointer. Accepts optional #965-160 eyepiece reticle.
  • 45° inclined viewing head rotates 360° for easy repositioning of eyepiece and sharing by more than one student.
  • DIN 4x, 10x and 40xR objectives are achromatic, parfocalled, parcentered, color coded.
  • 3-hole nosepiece is ball-bearing mounted for more precise alignment, has positive click stops.

ILLUMINATION

  • 40mm plano-concave mirror with fork mount.

FOCUSING

  • Low position coarse and fine focusing controls.
  • Stage moves up or down, eyepiece and body remain fixed.
  • Slip clutch prevents damage to focusing system.
  • Tension adjustment eliminates stage drift.
  • Safety rack stop prevents damage to slides and objective lenses.

STAGE

  • Large 110mm x 120mm (4-3/8 in. x 4-3/4 in.) stage, with locked-on, spring mounted stage slips, drilled and tapped to accept optional mechanical stage.
  • Built-in 0.65NA condenser lens.
  • Calibrated 5-hole disc diaphragm.

FRAME

  • Rugged cast metal, gray enamel finish.

Advanced Compound

Model 160 Series (shown here)

Superior in design and in performance, the 160 series incorporates a wide range of features designed for university and laboratory use. Superb optical clarity and reliable mechanical engineering assure years of top performance. Choose from four grades of objective lenses: Standard achromatic lenses deliver excellent clarity and normal flatness of field; ASC high contrast deliver extra image contrast; Semi-plan for extra flatness of field; Plan achromatic for superior clarity and flatness of field.

OPTICAL SYSTEM

  • Widefield 10x /18mm eyepiece, pointer standard in one eyepiece. Accepts optional #965-160 eyepiece reticle.
  • 45° inclined monocular viewing head rotates 360° for easy sharing by more than one student.
  • DIN standard 4x (0.10 N.A.), 10x (0.25 N.A.), 40xR (0.65 N.A.) and 100xR oil immersion (1.25 N.A.) objectives. Choose from achromatic, super high contrast, or plan. All are parfocalled, parcentered and color-coded.
  • Quad objective turret is ball-bearing mounted for smooth, precise positioning of objectives, features textured rubber knurling for easy grip. Mounted in reverse position to facilitate ease in changing slides.

ILLUMINATION

  • 12v 20-watt halogen with variable rheostat control.
  • Illuminated on/off switch, 3-wire grounded cord and plug.
  • 0.5A time delay fuse.

FOCUSING

  • Coaxial coarse and fine focusing controls, coarse has tension adjustment, fine is graduated.

STAGE

  • Large 140mm x 135mm (5-1.2 in. x 5-1/4 in.) stage; built-in, low profile, ball-bearing mounted mechanical specimen holder with low-position coaxial controls, 70mm (x) by 50mm (y) movement with graduations of 0.1mm.
  • 1.25 N.A. Abbe condenser has rack & pinion focusing, iris diaphragm, swing-out filter holder with clear blue, green and yellow filters supplied.

FRAME

  • Rugged cast aluminum, gray enamel finish.
  • Base dimensions: 185mm x 235mm (7-1/4 in. x 9-1/4 in.)

Stereo

National’s most popular stereo microscope for education and industry. Rugged and dependable, delivers a 3-dimensional, unreversed image with great resolution, brightness and clarity. Same high quality optical system of our larger stereo microscopes. Vertical design keeps the cost low, yet rugged construction affords years of reliable viewing.

OPTICAL SYSTEM

  • Paired widefield 10x eyepieces are supplied standard, with diopter adjustment on left side Interpupillary adjustment from 50mm to 75mm. Accepts optional #965-400-05 & #965-400-10 eyepiece reticle.
  • Paired 2x objectives are parfocalled, parcentered, achromatic and fixed permanently in place. Optional WF5x, WF15x or WF20x eyepieces can be used with this model to change magnification.

ILLUMINATION

  • No illumination – should be used where adequate natural or overhead light is available.
  • Port to accept optional #903 penlight illuminator.

FOCUSING

  • Rack and pinion focusing with slip clutch and tension adjustment.
  • Mounted on metal post, adjusts up and down.

STAGE

  • 60mm reversible black/white plastic contrast plate.
  • Locked-on stage clips.

FRAME

  • Rugged, cast frame, gray enamel finish.
  • Height: 260mm (10-1/4 in.) extends to 317mm (12-1/2 in.) for larger objects.

Elementary

Model 100 Series (shown here)

Packed with performance, this highly portable field microscope can be used in the classroom or in the field. Rugged metal frame, optical glass lenses, and unique substage prism combine to deliver a big, bright image 33 times larger than with the naked eye. The substage prism delivers amazing light for viewing transparent specimen slides, and special optical system also permits viewing of opaque specimen such as rocks, plants, insects, etc.. A great opportunity to teach microscopy on a limited budget

OPTICAL SYSTEM

FOCUSING

  • Optical tube slides smoothly up and down in spring fit metal bracket. Built-in stop prevents tube from sliding down into specimen slides.

ILLUMINATION

  • Lucite prism with silver reflective coating is permanently positioned and mounted beneath stage to direct ambient light from below and through specimen mounted on stage.

STAGE

  • Stage is 95mm wide x 80mm deep, with locked-on, spring activated stage clips.

FRAME

  • Cast aluminum stand, with chrome plated brass fittings.
